Steve "Coos" Rosacker, 56, of Guttenberg died Sept. 18, 2018, playing the game he loved most, at the Mystique Ice Arena, Dubuque.

Visitation will be held at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Guttenberg on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 4-7 p.m. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Steve was born Sept. 18, 1962, in Guttenberg, the son of Robert and Rita (Pape) Rosacker. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1981. On June 4, 1983, he was married to Caroline Ihm at the Ryan House in Dubuque. They became the parents of one son, Joseph. At the time of his passing he was employed at Big River Energy in Dyersville.

Steve had a passion for hockey, playing for 25 years in the Dubuque Senior Saints Over-30 League. He built and maintained an ice rink in Guttenberg for many years, and was proud of inspiring a love of the game in many area youth.

He enjoyed the great outdoors — hiking, biking, snow skiing, gardening, traveling — and at one time was an avid turkey hunter. Steve had such a gusto for life that he gave 150% to everything he did, whether it be his family life, work, or play. He had a fierce love for family, and especially loved playing cards at family get-togethers. He will always be remembered for his great smile, his sense of humor and his unfailing generous support of those he loved.

He died on his birthday with his skates on, playing the game he loved. He scored a goal, turned around, smiled . . . and left this world -— the perfect end to a too-short life.

Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Caroline; one son, Joe, of Guttenberg; his mother, Rita Rosacker of Guttenberg; four siblings, Ron (and Julie) Rosacker of Guttenberg; Rick (and Twila) Rosacker of Guttenberg; Pam (and Donn) Anderson of Wellsburg; Patty (and Paul) Wachendorf of Guttenberg; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, along with many friends, including his special hockey brothers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, in 2009.
