Vernon G. Bockenstedt, age 75, of Colesburg, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville.

Visitation was Saturday, Oct. 27, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Interment was at Bethel Cemetery, Osterdock.

Vernon was born on Nov. 18, 1942, near Petersburg, the son of John and Hilda Bockenstedt. 

He received his education locally and farmed pretty much his entire life. On Jan. 30, 1971, Vern was united in marriage with Sharon Rose Funk. They were married for 41 years until she passed in 2012. 

Vern is survived by his siblings; Arlene Langel, John (Dorothy) Bockenstedt, Walter (Mary) Bockenstedt, Virgil (Sue) Bockenstedt and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Ruth Ann in infancy, Pearl Meier, Jeanne Oberbroeckling and one brother, Irvin Bockenstedt.
