Richard Lee Leonard, 48, of Beaverton, Ore. passed away on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.

Rich was born on Aug. 31, 1970, in Waterloo, the son of Roger and Margaret Leonard. He was raised in Guttenberg and graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1989. He attended the University of Northern Iowa and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1995. He was united in marriage to Michaela Smith. Together they raised a daughter, Sierra. He worked for Intel Corporation for 16 years and recently began a job at Nautilus, Inc. in Vancouver, Wash.

Rich enjoyed hiking, running, and being outdoors.

He is survived by his father, Roger Leonard of Guttenberg; brother, Rodney (Donna) Leonard of Strawberry Point; a sister, Mariette Leonard of Cedar Rapids; a nephew, Travis Reilly; and two nieces, Sarah (Jonathan) Meade and Amanda Leonard.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Homan) Leonard and an uncle, Burdette Burington.
