All-conference selections for baseball and softball announced

Upper Iowa all-conference selections for the 2019 baseball and softball seasons have been announced. 

Baseball

First Team: Cedrick Drahn (junior)

Second Team: Nathan Johanningmeier (senior) and Ethan Stubbs (junior)

Honorable Mention: Michael Egan (senior) and Zach Trudo (senior)

Drahn led the Bulldogs in pitching, finishing the season 6-2 with an ERA of 3.02 and 55 Ks. He was third in the conference in innings pitched with 53 and one-third, and was fifth in the conference in strikeouts. He was the team leader in wins (6), strikeouts (55) and innings pitched (53 and one-third). He also led the Bulldogs in hits (29) and batting average (.367). He was tied for the team lead in RBIs (19).

Johanningmeier finished the season with 22 hits, one home run, 16 RBIs and a batting average of .310. He was tied for the team lead in home runs (1) and triples (1). 

Stubbs finished the season with 28 hits, one home run, 10 RBIs and a batting average of .364. On the mound, he was 2-0 with an ERA of 4.20 and 30 Ks. He was the team leader and fourth in the conference in runs (35), doubles (7), slugging percentage (.494) and in stolen bases, going a perfect 19-19.

Egan finished the season with 12 hits, 8 RBIs and an average of .222. He led the team and conference in HBP (11) and tied for the team lead in walks (19). Egan, a catcher, also made his mark defensively, leading the team and finishing fourth in the conference in putouts with 163. He was also tied for third in the conference in runners caught stealing with six.

Trudo finished the season with 21 hits, one home run, 19 RBIs and a batting average of .256. He was tied for the team lead in home runs (1), triples (1) and RBIs (19).

Softball

First Team: Jayde Schubert (senior)

Second Team: Hannah Schutte (senior) and Keagan Moose (senior)

Honorable Mention: Jordan Schubert (junior) and Kyleigh Picha (senior)

Jayde Schubert finished the season with 25 hits, one home run, 20 RBIs and a batting average of .313. She was the team leader in home runs.

Schutte finished the season with 36 hits, 29 RBIs and a batting average of .375.  She led the team in hits (36), doubles (9), triples (2), RBIs (29) and slugging percentage (.510).

Moose finished the season with 28 hits, 18 RBIs and a batting average of .384. She led the team in OBP (.483), batting average (.384) and putouts (173). Moose, a catcher, also led the team—and finished tied for first place in the conference—in fielding percentage (.989). 

Jordan Schubert finished the season with 21 hits, 16 RBIs and a batting average of .288. She led the team in assists (103) and stolen bases, going a perfect 21-21. On the mound, Schubert had a record of 6-9 with 82 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.54. 

Picha finished the season with 20 hits, 13 RBIs and a batting average of .242. She was the team leader in runs scored with 29.
