Blue-Golds wallop Trojans
The Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben football team had little problem dispatching host North Crawford in a Ridge and Valley contest Friday night. The Blue-Golds rolled to a 62-14 win over the Trojans.
Ethan Karnopp scored on a 13-yard run and the PAT was good as SWS gained a 7-0 advantage in the first quarter. Carter Lomas scored on a 5-yard run but the 2-point attempt was no good as SWS upped the lead to 13-0. Ashton Swanson hauled in an 18-yard TD pass from Lomas and the PAT was good as SWS had a 20-0 lead after the first period.
The Blue-Golds scored 34 points in the second quarter, including a 37-yard run by Hunter Aspenson, a 42-yard reception by Gavin Ralph, an interception return by Ralph, a 34-yard run by Aspenson, and a 57-yard run by Swanson. Daymain Mack of North Crawford caught a 65-yard TD pass from Stephen Munson in the second period. SWS held a whopping 54-6 lead at the half.
Neither team scored in the third quarter.
Haiven Gilbertson went on a 30-yared TD run in the fourth period and the 2-point conversion was good as SWS increased their advantage to 62-6 in the fourth quarter. Munson caught a 67-yard TD pass from Keegan Bender and the 2-point play was good as the Trojans pulled to within 62-14 at the end.
Aspenson rushed 7 times for 182 yards and 2 TDs for the Blue-Golds. Swanson had 3 carriers for 55 yards and a TD. Lomas completed 4 of 4 passes for 72 yards and 2 TDs. Ralph caught 1 pass for 42 yards and a touchdown. Swanson caught 2 passes for 27 yards and a touchdown.
“Our offensive and defensive lines were able to control the line of scrimmage,” said SWS Coach Justin Goodrich. “We capitalized off of a couple North Crawford turnovers as well. We must have a great week of practice and come ready to play Ithaca next week.”
