Milo Edward Doerring
Milo Edward Doerring, 84, of Luana, Iowa died Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa. Milo Edward was born February 2, 1935, to Lester and Alice (Pruess) Doerring in rural Luana, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church. Milo attended Eno Country School through the eighth grade. He served in the National Guard from 1957 to 1963.
Milo was united in marriage with Diane O’Neal on July 16, 1960, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He enjoyed playing cards and yahtzee, with Diane being his best competitor. Milo’s greatest joy was being a grandpa and later a great-grandpa. He never missed a game or activity that they were involved in and was always their biggest fan. His life was farming and his John Deere tractors. Milo was known far and wide for his homemade sausage and took great pride in sharing it with friends and neighbors.
Milo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane Doerring of Luana, Iowa; his children, Rhonda (Mike) Donlon of Elkader, Iowa, Scott (Doreen) Doerring of Monona, Iowa, Mitchell (Lisa) Doerring of Monona, Iowa and Sue Ellen (Troy) Armstrong of Buffalo Center, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer Donlon, Jill (Brandon) Stannard, Matthew (Jessica Werger and daughter, Jayda) Donlon, Bradley Doerring, Britanni Doerring (Josh Weatherly), Sierra (Dylan) Knutdson, Savanna Doerring and Spencer (Cassie Engstler) Armstrong; and great-grandchildren, Payton, Weston, JoJo Stannard and arrival expected in May 2020, Baby Weatherly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Alice Doerring.
Visitation was held Wednesday, November 27, from 4-7 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Friday. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 29, at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant. Burial followed at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.
