Helen Ora Kann, age 92, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on December 30, 1927, on the home farm, the daughter of Charles and Helene (Mutull) Meyer.  

            Helen received her education and graduated from the Garnavillo High School with the class of 1945. On August 1, 1947, Helen was united in marriage with Donald Kann and this union blessed the couple with six children. Helen made a home for her family while working with her husband on the farm. Helen enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, sewing, her crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.

            Helen is survived by her six children, James (Marilyn) Kann, Ruth Hamilton, Wendy (Mike) Gossett, Dinah (Keith) Hodapp, Linda (Duane) Lampson, and Charlene (Tom) Staade; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Kann, Lydia Kann, Anna Mae Meyer and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

            Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald in 2016; siblings, Mildred, Lloyd, LeRoy, Arthur, Delores, Albert and Irving; sons-in-law, Douglas Hamilton, Terry Crowe and Charles Ball.  

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, IA.  The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Garnavillo, IA. Funeral service will be at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, with Rev. Hillary Burns-Kite officiating. Interment will be at Kann Cemetery.
