On a cool brisk day of 37 degrees in Westby, there have been many weeks of training and it all comes down to today. As the parents and spectators gathered around the course, the girls were ready for the start. To set my watch, know my limits, and know my strengths, Meg Katzung finished the day in 5th place to advance to Sectionals with a 20:29. As the miles pass me by, I run with everything I have inside me as Josie Kramer finished the day in 16th place with a 22:32 and just missing her career “PR” by 1 second. As the sound of my feet hit the hard cold ground, I found my rhythm as Ella Hager finished in 21st with a hard fought 22:45 on the day. The sweat pouring out of me became my goal in the cold as Jadyn Jenks just missed her career “PR” with a 26th place finish and a 22:59 on the day. On the surface I am calm, I run in rain or shine, meet me at the finish line as Ava Hager finished in 32nd place with a 23:22 for time. As every muscle in my body strains, I run to that special place as Alyssa Straka finished 35th with a 23:33. I fear no starting line, I fear no miles as Kate Olson finished in 45th place with a 24:52. The girls team finished in 4th place on the day.

As the day continued, the boys stepped up for the 2nd race of the day. The temperature dropped down to 35 degrees and the wind slightly picked up. Step by step, mile by mile, I run to make my mom smile as Spencer DeHart pounded out a new career “PR- 19:15” and 36th place. I think I’m addicted to the rush of a long run as Max Anthony finished in 52nd place with a 21:00. Give me my Pringel’s, give me my chips as Bryce Priebe finished in 53rd place with a 21:37. I don’t stop when I’m tired, I stop when I’m done at the finish line as Chase Kozelka pounded out yet another “PR- 21:40” and 54th place. A long run is the cure for anything as Ryan Waller hammered out a big “PR - 22:22” and 58th place on the day.
