Barbara J. “Barb” Karnopp, 68, of Bagley, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1952, the daughter of Max and Dorothy (Ziemkowski) Luber. Barb graduated from West Grant High School and worked at Rapid Die and Molding in Cassville. In 1974, she married John Karnopp in Prairie du Chien. Barb was a stay-at-home mom for a short time. She was employed at the Bagley Hotel, operated Page’s Hidden View in Wyalusing, and owned the Bagley Bottoms Bar. Barb later was the manager at Subway in Dubuque, Iowa, worked at Dick’s Supermarket in Prairie du Chien, and retired from Prairie Industries. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Patch Grove. Barb enjoyed bowling, fast pitch softball and was an avid Cubs, Packers, and Badgers fan. She was a softball coach and bus driver for the West Grant School District. Barb was very devoted to Bagley and its residents, where she served on the Bagley Park Board and helped with the Fourth of July celebration.

Survivors include her daughter, Darci Karnopp; a grandson, Maxton Karnopp; stepchildren, Connie Dettman and Mike Karnopp; two step-grandchildren, Alyssa and Wade; a brother, Tom (Linda) Luber; nieces and nephews, Chad and Renee Baures, Brad (fiancée Jessica Seibert) and Lacy Luber, and Sabrina (Dave Hennes) Luber-Hennes. 

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Baures; two brothers, Max “Buzzy,” Jr. and Leonard “Lenny” Luber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Patch Grove with Father John Meinholz officiating. The services will be live streamed on Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory’s Facebook page. Burial will be in Bagley Cemetery, Bagley. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
