Betty J. Benoy, 89, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at Prairie Maison. 

She was born on Sept 30, 1931, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Schmidt) Jeidy. Betty graduated from Patch Grove High School. In November of 1954, she married James “Jiggs” Hamilton. Together, they farmed in the Patch Grove area. In 1972, Jiggs died in a truck accident. Betty continued to farm with her sons. She later met and married Duane J. Benoy on May 10, 1977. Together, they farmed in Patch Grove Township until 2006, when they retired. Betty was employed at 3M.

Survivors include her sons, Randy (Michelle), Larry (Julie), Scott (Donna), and Pat (Janita Kleinow) Hamilton; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Wilson; a sister-in-law, Lucille Meyers; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Jiggs and Duane, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” Hamilton; a grandson, J.R. Hamilton; sisters, Nona (Bob) Quick and Jerri (Neil) Campbell; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Wilson. 

Private family funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 7, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Bloomington, with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Private family burial will be in Patch Grove Cemetery, Patch Grove. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date.
