Louis E. Geisler, 83, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at the University of Wisconsin Health System in Madison. 

He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Hilda (Cornwell) Geisler Sr. Louie worked for the Prairie du Chien Street Department until retirement in 1999. He enjoyed his daily walk, listening to country western music, and watching NASCAR races. Family meant everything to Louie. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing with his great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. 

Louis is survived by his wife, Sharon; their daughters, Debbie Geisler and Kathy (Dan) Haefer; four grandchildren, James (Sarah) Haefer, Jessica (Nick) Pedretti, Alyssa (Matt) Cram, and Bryan Yanna; and four great-grandchildren, Julia Haefer, Addison and Bryson Pedretti, and Macaulay Cram. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth Geisler Jr. and Roger Geisler; along with a sister, Dolores (Virgil) Fette. 

A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 23, in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Miranda Klosterboer officiating. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
