Prairie du Chien-Fennimore gymnastics team members include, front row: Leilani Pflueger, Kylee O’Kane, Chesney Cazda, and Madison Otts. Back row: Alyssa Schoepp, Alex Crary, Hailey Ohlert, Sadie Koreah, Reagan Hannah, Madilyn Fisher, and Avery Thompson.

The Prairie du Chien/Fennimore gymnastics team traveled to Hazel Green for a six-team invitational. The PDC/F girls took first place with a season high score of 124.5! The girls were so excited when they heard their name called for first place, and it was a very proud moment for the coaches.

Second place went to Platteville/Lancaster with a score of 123.35, third place was Dodgville/Mineral Point/Iowa Grant with a score of 123.125, fourth place was Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster with a score of 120.575, fifth place was Southwestern Cuba City/Benton with a score of 120.05, and sixth place went to Whitewater with a score of 114.95.

This year the Conference Meet and sectionals are expected to be close with many of the scores so close.

There were some standout performances. Madilyn Fisher placed second on vault with a score of 8.475 and Avery Thompson just missed fifth place by 0.025 with a score of 8.3. Madilyn Fisher tied for second on bars with a score of 8.25. Madilyn Fisher placed second on balance beam with a score of 8.55 and Alyssa Schoepp placing third with a score of 8.45. On floor exercise, Alyssa Schoepp placed second with a score of 8.625 and Madilyn placed fourth with a score of 8.575. Madilyn Fisher took first place for all around with a season high score of 33.85, and Alyssa Schoepp took fifth place with a score of 32.375.

The junior varsity took third place with a score of 79.1. Reagan Hannah placed first on JV all around with a score of 24.050 and fourth place on JV bars with a score of 4.5.

According to records from Derick Kelly, this is the first invite the PdC gymnastics team has won since Prairie won its own Invite back on Feb. 5, 1983! The Hawks finished first that day out of seven teams with a score of 94.650.

This is just the second time the program has ever won an invite outside of Prairie du Chien (not counting conference meets as invites) and is the first time since placing first at the Lake Mills Invitational on Jan. 28, 1978 when they took first out of five teams with a score of 80.030!

This is obviously now the highest the program has ever placed at the Southwestern/Cuba City Invite, with the previous high being a third-place finish in the 2005-06 season with a score of 117.600.

The 124.500 points are the most at any meet for PdC since they scored 125.700 points in a second-place finish at the SWAL Conference Meet at River Valley on March 1, 1997 and the third most in program history (at least since whenever scoring was changed in high school gymnastics).
