On Thursday, Jan. 21, the Prairie du Chien girls basketball team hosted Dodgeville for a conference match-up. 

In the first half, the Hawks took a quick 7-0 lead with Macey Banasik hitting a three-point basket from Abby Feye, Makenzie Knapp draining a free throw, and Banasik hitting another three-point shot from Ella Hager. 

After the Dodgers scored five points, Prairie went on another quick run with Knapp knocking down two free throws, Feye having a layup off of a steal from Lily Krahn, Allison Allbee making a bucket in the lane, and Krahn scoring a layup from Allison Kennedy to go up 15-5. 

The Hawks extended their lead to 28-11 before Dodgeville went on a 6-0 run. Prairie then ended the half with a run of eight points. In that run, Hager had a three-point basket on the wing from Nicole Rickleff, a layup from Feye’s defensive steal, and a half-court buzzer-beater. The Hawks led 36-17 at the half. 

Prairie added to their lead and secured the win with a final score of 70-31. 

Eight PdC girls contributed to the scoring. Lily Krahn had 18, Macey Banasik had 14, Allison Kennedy and Ella Hager each had 10, Ashlyn Knapp had 7, Allison Allbee had 6, Makenzie Knapp had 3, and Abby Feye had 2. 

As a result of the victory, the Hawks were at 12-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
