Bette M. Curtis, wife of Loren Dale Curtis, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, in Boscobel. 

She was born May 26, 1942, in Sparta, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Young) Ward. In 1944, they moved to a farm in the Steuben/Wauzeka area. She attended one room schools and graduated from the Boscobel High School in 1960. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Wauzeka. Bette was united in marriage on Sept. 10, 1960, to Dale Curtis at the Steuben Congregational Church. Bette and Dale farmed in the Boydtown area for many years. They enjoyed traveling to Wyoming and Colorado for hunting, gambling bus trips, and playing euchre with friends. They loved to attend their six daughters’ events at church and school. After getting promoted to grandparents, they loved to go all over the states to watch the grandkids participate in many activities. 

Bette is survived by Dale, her loving husband of 60 years; daughters, Peggy (Robert) Welsh, Gilette, Wyo., Phyllis (Brad) Groom, Wauzeka, Lorna (Eric) Wolf, Lancaster, Robin (Todd Russell) Baumeister, Boscobel, Michelle Bloyer, Muscoda; son-in-law, Pat Harvat, Wauzeka; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Barb (Gene) Peesel, Union Center; sister-in-law, Eunice Dag-non, Prairie du Chien; brother-in-law, Don Breitenbach, McFarland; and many nieces and nephews. 

Bette was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Harvat; a grandson, Curtis Groom; her parents, Robert and Margaret Ward; and infant siblings, Joyce, Bonnie and Richard Ward.
