Douglas S. Poulter
Douglas S. Poulter, 90, of Ferryville, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.
He was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Lake Geneva, the son of Samuel and Jennie (Nystrom) Poulter. In 1952, Douglas graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UW-Whitewater and he pursued his professional passion, education. In December 1955, he married Alice Dunn. Alice passed away in July 1989. He met Bonnie Jesseau Qualey on a blind date in 1996 and they were married in January 1997. Bonnie passed away in December 2013.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Peter (Tracy) Qualey of Verona, Michael Qualey of Mason City, Iowa, Anne (Randy) Scheck of Burlington, Beth (Burt) Katubig of Littleton Colo., Patrice Qualey (Scott Gilbertson) of Madison, Amy Qualey-Mason (Andrew) of Denver Colo.; ten step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, niece Alice Poulter of Chanhassen, Minn.; nephews Dave Poulter (Jody) of Lake Zurich, Ill. and Steve Poulter of Bloomington, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James (August 1998); and his sister-in-law, Joyce Poulter.
