Mt. Sterling man arrested after crash
On Feb. 8, at 8:36 p.m., the Crawford County Communications Center received a report of a two-vehicle traffic crash on State Highway 35, approximately one-quarter of a mile south of County Road N, in the township of Eastman.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Joshua A. Foreman, 46, of La Crescent, Minn. and Johnathan D. O’Dell, 21, of Mt. Sterling. Foreman was operating a 2008 Toyota 4Runner northbound on State Highway 35. O’Dell was operating a 2018 Buick Encore southbound on State Highway 35. Foreman stated that Odell crossed the centerline and struck the side of his vehicle. O’Dell exhibited numerous indicators of impairment. O’Dell was transported to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for standardized field sobriety testing, followed by an evaluation by a drug recognition expert.
O’Dell was taken into custody for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance. In addition, O’Dell was issued citations for operating left of center, failure to keep the vehicle under control and no automobile insurance.
There were no injuries sustained in the crash but both vehicles sustained severe damage.
