On Saturday, Feb. 27, Prairie du Chien/Fennimore gymnasts Madilyn Fisher and Alyssa Schoepp traveled to Onalaska for the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet. This year’s State Meet was done in two different sessions. The girls competed in the first session and did not know their results until later that night.

Sophomore Alyssa Schoepp had an outstanding year. Alyssa was in the third round on the floor exercise and had a solid routine in a competitive field. She placed 21st with a score of 8.55 in a competition where the number of qualifiers was reduced. This is a great accomplishment for a sophomore.

“I am excited about Alyssa’s progress and look forward to her continued improvements in the coming years,” said PdC/F Coach Alex Udelhofen.

Freshman Madilyn Fisher was in the fifth round on the vault. Fisher knew that if she wanted to win State on the vault, she was going to have to perform a more difficult vault than she did at sectionals. Fisher decided it was worth the risk. Fisher performed a beautiful Pike Tsuke but fell on the landing. With a fall, Fisher still scored an 8.95, placing 16th. This is a really good score for having a fall. This was a great learning experience for both girls for the years to come.

“This was a great way to end the season. With the majority of the varsity team this year filled with freshmen and sophomores, I am excited to see where the next few years takes them,” said Udelhofen.
