Patricia Niehaus, 89, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Guttenberg Care Center.

Burial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Pat was born the daughter of George and Pearl (Chettinger) Auer on Oct. 11, 1931, in Garnavillo.

Pat attended 10 years of her education at St. Joseph’s Catholic School but then transferred and graduated from the Garnavillo High School. On Sept. 19, 1949, she was united in marriage with Robert Niehaus at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo. Together they farmed for several years north of Garnavillo and were blessed with four children.

Pat could often times be found spending time with her family, cooking meals for them while her sons worked in the fields on the family farm, or just baking up some sweet treats for her grandchildren. On Sundays she could be found in church, as faith was very important to her. Pat worked as the secretary and bookkeeper for the family farm operation.

Patricia’s memory will forever be cherished by her children, daughter, Dr. Cheryl (Bill) Northey of Corralitas, Calif.; three sons, Daniel (Janice) Niehaus of Garnavillo, Dr. Michael (Julie) Niehaus of Burlington and Mark (Kelly Hefel) Niehaus of Elkader; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren plus one on the way; one brother, Dr. James (Jill) Auer of Milwaukee, Wis.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband in 2009; three brothers, Ted, Fr. Robert, and Dr. George Auer, brother-in-law, Virgil Niehaus.
