The MFL MarMac boys and girls golf teams hit the links last week, for their first competitive golf action since 2019.

The Bulldogs opened play April 13, with the boys participating in a triangular with Waukon and Postville at Tri City Golf Course near Luana. Waukon narrowly edged MFL MarMac, 190 versus 192, while Postville totaled 256.

Aidan Jones from Waukon was the meet medalist with a score of 42. Bulldog Braden Landt was right behind him, shooting a 43 to earn the runner-up spot.

Other MFL MarMac scores included a 45 from Gavin Meana and a 50 from Ben Miene. Sawyer Keehner and Joe Grau shot a 53 and 54, respectively, while Jonah Wille earned a 60 and Nick Krambeer a 62. Collin Henkels came in at 68, Will Koether at 71 and Jaxton Schroeder at 81.

The girls played those same teams at Waukon, while also adding in Decorah. Waukon easily won the meet with a score of 210, followed by Decorah with 280, Postville with 284 and MFL MarMac with 310.

Miranda Lang had the top score for the Bulldogs, shooting a 66. Haylee Guyer came in at 80, Rose Grau at 81, Mallory Lang at 83 and Chylie Feuerhelm at 86.

MFL MarMac was back at Tri City April 15, where the boys bested Central 195 to 211. Landt continued his success, shooting another 43 to become the meet medalist. Meana finished the day with a 48, and shared co-runner-up honors with the Warriors’ Tommy Seeland.

Miene and Krambeer both earned scores of 52, followed by Grau at 54, Wille at 58 and Keehner at 62. Henkels shot a 73, while Koether had a 74 and Schroeder a 76.

Central came out on top on the girls side, defeating the Bulldogs 251 to 275. Warrior Madison Sylvester was the meet medalist with a 52. Miranda Lang was not far behind, shooting a 54 to earn runner-up status.

Most of the other MFL MarMac girls also improved their scores, as Grau finished the meet at 67, Mallory Lang at 74, Feuerhelm at 80 and Guyer at 84.

The golfers have two meets on the schedule this week, at West Central on April 19, then at Tri City versus Clayton Ridge on April 22.
