Calisa Lynn Jaster, 22, of Garber, gained her angel wings on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City after a sudden illness. She was born on June 20, 1998, in West Union, the daughter of Doug and Elizabeth (McTaggart) Jaster. Calisa attended classes through the seventh grade at Starmont Schools and then completed eighth through 12th grade at Edgewood-Colesburg. Calisa was a proud 2017 graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School.

After high school, Calisa attended Imagine the Possibilities DayHab in Guttenberg. It is here that she met many more special friends and enjoyed her time doing various activities and going on outings around the area. Calisa absolutely loved participating in Special Olympics and she would proudly show her medals and ribbons for both tennis ball throwing and bowling.

Calisa loved her Baby Deb, going on buggy rides, Harley motorcycles, playing catch, her blocks, playing (and cheating at!) UNO, swimming, baking, shopping and dropping the F bomb like no one we’ve seen. Calisa loved her brother, Dalton, and sister, Kalie, beyond words, and shared a special bond with both of them. Her Grandma Lynn also had a special place in her heart and the two could often be found at Sears having coffee and eating cheeseburgers for breakfast.

While Calisa faced many health issues in her short life, she never let that faze her. Her smile and laughter were contagious. She spread joy, love and light to everyone she met and she will be greatly missed by many.

Calisa is survived by her parents, Doug and Liz Jaster; her brother, Dalton Jaster; her sister, Kalie Jaster; paternal grandparents, Bernard and Lynn Jaster; her maternal grandparents, David and Lisa McTaggart and Monica Bunn; aunts and uncles, Arnie and Cindy Ingles, Jody and Bill Graff, Darrell and Rachel Jaster, Randei McTaggart, Jarrod Bunn and Jordan and Holly Bunn; cousins, Brandon and Brady Graff, Mariah Sharkey and McKenna and Collin Jaster; special friends, Marnie and Bob; and numerous other family members.

She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Martin and Jolana Jaster; maternal great-grandparents, Leon and Mary Lou McTaggart; maternal great-grandfather, John Stolka; maternal great-grandmother, Virginia Gage; and paternal great-grandparents, Richard and Rosella Dugan.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at the Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, at St. John Congregational Church in Garber. Interment will be at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Garber.

Because of COVID-19 concerns, masks are requested at the funeral home and church.
