Francis Casper Schoulte, 84, of Monona, died Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Garden View Place in Monona. He was born April 10, 1937, to Casper J. and Katherine (Riley) Schoulte in McGregor. Francis was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor.

 

On June 8, 1957, Francis was united in marriage with Carol Marie Reardon at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona. They began their married life farming on the family farm near National. Five children were born to this union, Christopher, Cathy, Sally, Timothy and Rick. In his younger years, Francis enjoyed flying his single engine Cessna plane and doing tractor pulling with his friends. He was the president on the Clayton County Fair Board for 12 years. Francis had a spice for life, he loved celebrating and never missed a party. His greatest joys were farming his century farm and spending time at the ponds, cabin and picnic area with his family.

 

Surviving Francis are his wife of almost 64 years, Carol; his children, Christopher (Linda) Schoulte, Cathy Werger, Sally Berns, Timothy (Leigh) Schoulte and Rick (Sara) Schoulte; grandchildren, Joshua Schoulte, Joleen Sussman, Alex, Ali and Jared Werger, Nathan and Spencer Berns, Kasey Adams, Destiny Berns, Brant and Saysha Schoulte, Dustin and Kassie Hamilton, and Dalton and Mason Schoulte; and many great-grandchildren.

 

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Casper and Katherine Schoulte; sisters, Virginia Schoulte, Carolyn Safranski and Julia Peters; grandsons, Ryan Schoulte, Jeff Werger and Thomas Schoulte (stillborn); and sons-in-laws, Al Werger and Bob Berns.

 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. rosary, on Wednesday, May 5, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor. 

 

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor.

 

Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in McGregor.

 

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor is assisting the family with arrangements.
