Planning underway for Stars & Stripes
Planning for the 2021 Stars & Stripes festivities is underway by the Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce. The annual community celebration of our nation’s independence will be held on Saturday, July 3.
Activities will be held in Ingleside Park north of Clayton Ridge school. "We will have a carnival this year, beanbag tournament, parade, and fireworks at dusk over the river," said Brandie Tomkins, Chamber director.
On Sunday, July 4, Guttenberg will welcome the Golden Knights Parachute team. The jump is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Stephen D. Shannon Memorial Athletic Complex. This is a free event and open to the public.
"We encourage businesses, organizations, and families to participate in our Stars & Stripes parade," said Tomkins. "Categories will be Business, Organizations, Family Floats, Pets, and bike/wagons. We will award prizes to the first and second place winners in each category. Our theme for the 2021 Stars & Stripes parade is: Freedom is Golden; Bold Stripes, Bright Stars & Brave Knights.”
Guttenberg area organizations and businesses are welcome to participate in the festivities with park activities or product sales. Those interested in participating are asked to contact The Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce at 563-252-2323 or guttenberg@alpinecom.net.
"We are also looking for volunteers to help with our festivities — if you are able please contact us and set up a time!" said the Chamber director.
