Isabel Sophie Louise Kurth, 97, of Monona, died Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien, Wis. She was born to John and Lucy (Sass) Sass on Aug. 11, 1923, in Mendon Township, McGregor. Isabel was baptized on Oct. 3, 1923, by Pastor Daugs and confirmed on April 10, 1938 by Rev. Siefekes. She attended Eno Country school in Luana.

 

On Oct. 29, 1941, Isabel was united in marriage with Dale Kurth at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. To this union two children were born, Larry and Gloria. Together, they farmed their entire life in Wagner Township, Clayton County. Isabel enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, quilting, crocheting, dancing to country music and baking cookies for the grandchildren. Her greatest joy was visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Isabel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, and was also a member of WELCA.  In 2006, Isabel and Dale moved to Monona.

 

Surviving Isabel are her daughter, Gloria (Leigh) Keehner of Farmersburg; daughter-in-law, Julie Kurth of Farmersburg; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and her nieces and nephews.

 

Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucy Sass; husband, Dale Kurth; son, Larry Kurth; great-grandson, Blayne Kurth; and her aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

Private family services will be held.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona is assisting the family with arrangements.
