Janet Lynn Coleman, 63, of rural Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

She was born Sept. 2, 1957, to Jack and Shirley (Jones) Klotz in La Grange, Ill. Janet married her beloved husband, Tom Coleman, on July 11, 1987, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hodgkins, Ill. She was always involved in the community, even going on to be the first woman police officer. Janet loved many things including playing the piano at Christmas, drawing and painting, and sewing Halloween costumes for her grandkids. She could always be found playing the organ at church and helping out in Sunday school. Though she had many joys in life, nothing brought her more happiness then spending time with her family. Janet touched the lives of everyone she met. Her kind heart and gentle soul lives on in the memory of all who knew her. Her comforting words and heartfelt hugs will be missed beyond measure.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Coleman; children, Dionne (Chad) Robinson, Jackie (Mike) Warkentien, Tom (Leanne) Coleman, Amanda (Rich) Betty, and Janelle Rush; her grandchildren, Justin (Nicole) Coleman, Johnna (Colten) Curtis, Jaxon (fiancé Averee) Coleman, Johnathan Coleman, Jake, Jurnee, and Jace Warkentien, Joshua Rush, Jerica (fiancé Gavin) Rush, Briana Orea, Brittney (fiancé Ronnie) Coleman, Noah Robinson, and Taylor and Emily Betty. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, with three more on the way; her two brothers, Jack (Michelle) Klotz of Eagle River, and John (Patty) Klotz of St. Germain; her sister, Jolene Poots; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Coleman; sister, Jill Mueller; parents, Jack and Shirley Klotz; and a grandson, Conner Michael.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Michael Rogge from Mayo Clinic Health System for the considerate and special care he extended to Janet throughout the years.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, McGregor, Iowa, with a visitation two hours before services at the church on Saturday. Andrew Pruess will be the officiant. Burial will follow at Bridgeport Township Cemetery, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, cards may be sent to Tom Coleman, 59562 Old State Hwy. 60, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation, McGregor, Iowa, is helping the family with the arrangements.
