Construction is underway on the new Prairie du Chien Eagles Club building between S. First Street and the Highway 18 Bypass. In fact, forms were being set up Tuesday for the 7,200-square-foot, one story building.

“It (the new Eagles Club) has been going since we did the fill two years ago, but it’s a slow process,” said City Administrator and Eagles Club President Chad Abram.

Abram said a general contractor has not yet been named for the project, but Delta 3 Engineering of Platteville is the engineering firm.

The new Eagles Club will feature a main bar, a full kitchen and a banquet room, said Abram, who noted there will also be a lot more parking space than at the current Eagles Club Aerie 1502 at 200 S. Beaumont Road.

Abram said the initial cost for the new Eagles Club was $750,000, but the price of materials will increase the cost.

“We have some funds saved in our building fund account,” said Abram, who noted that fundraising will be a continuing cycle.

The current Eagles Club and grounds will eventually be sold, just like the club did recently with the house it owned next door, said Abram.

The new Eagles Club will be the culmination of a project that has been in the discussion and planning stages for about 10 years, he added.

“The Prairie du Chien Eagles Club is looking forward to the continued development of the new club,” said Abram. “We are always taking donations for this project, feel free to stop by and check out the plans hanging in the current location.”
