Barbara A. Lane, 76, of Mount Hope, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at her home. 

She was born on Aug. 7, 1944, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Echo (Slack) Bark. Barbara graduated from West Grant High School. On May 2, 1964, she was united in marriage to Loren L. Lane at the Mount Hope United Methodist Church. Together they farmed in Little Grant Township on the Bark family farm that was purchased in the early 1800s. Barbara was a member of the Mount Hope United Methodist Church and served on the church board. She also served on the West Grant High School Board. For over 40 years, Barbara was the photography leader with Grant County 4-H. She had a passion for photography, genealogy, and the history of her family farm. 

Survivors include her son, Keith; daughter, Laurie; four grandchildren, Brian (Breanna) Patterson, Amanda (Holden) Cauffman, Andrea (Adam) Keenan, Amber Patterson; one great-granddaughter, Everly Cauffman; a sister, Beverly Lane; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Loren, on Feb. 13, 2020.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Lance Wetter officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to the Grant County 4-H Photography Program.
