On Thursday, July 15, at 1:30 p.m., the Prairie du Chien Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Highway 18 and Vineyard Road.

During the traffic stop, the Prairie du Chien Police Department K-9 “Rico” arrived on scene and conducted a free open-air sniff of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded multiple baggies used for storage of methamphetamine from the passenger and inside of the vehicle.

The passenger, Kelly “Bo” Slavings Jr., 47, Prairie du Chien, was transported to Crossing Rivers Hospital by Tri-State Ambulance for a medical evaluation after stating he was having a medical emergency. Shortly after arriving at Crossing Rivers, Slavings left the hospital.

Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and maintaining a drug trafficking house will be referred to the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office.

Slavings is wanted for a felony probation violation warrant. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Slavings, please call the Crawford County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-779-7297 or the police department at 608-326-2421.

The driver of the vehicle, Sheri L. Schroeder, 43, Prairie du Chien, will also be referred for methamphetamine related charges.

Officers later searched a house in which the occupants of the vehicle reside and located multiple items of methamphetamine paraphernalia and methamphetamine.

This is still an ongoing investigation and further charges and arrests may occur.
