Prairie woman charged with stealing pickup truck

A 30-year-old Prairie du Chien woman has been charged in Crawford County Circuit Court with on count of burglary of a building or dwelling, and one count of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Hannah Kast faces up to 18.5 years in prison and $35,000 in fines if convicted of both counts.

According to the criminal complaint, a man reported that his pickup truck was stolen from his garage in Soldiers Grove. The truck was found the next day at Joe’s Auto Service in Necedah where it had been left by Kast. An employee at Joe’s explained Kast had dropped the truck off and admitted that she had stolen it. A deputy met with Kast and she admitted she was on drugs and stole the truck, the complaint said.
