Iowa native and former NFL football player Tim Dwight recently met with representatives from the Clayton County Energy District (CCED)—as well as other community members—to learn more about CCED’s clean energy, “green meets green” approach. The group gathered at the Volga City Opera House, where CCED Program Manager Joleen Jansen gave a presentation, and Dwight spoke about his 13-year involvement with the solar industry.

Dwight is principal of Solar Integrators, a company that guides people through every step of a solar project, designing and engineering solar arrays based on the individual’s energy needs.

“It’s nice to see how this technology has taken off,” Dwight said. “It’s going to be growing and going to be really effective here in Iowa. We get a lot of sun.”

He’s especially excited about solar’s potential in the agricultural sector.

“It’s just scraping the edge right now,” Dwight said. “Down the road, I see a lot of Iowa farms getting involved, and not just powering their facilities, but also powering onto the grid. Just like we feed our cities across the country, we’re going to power them from here.”
