Joseph C. Sprosty
Joseph Charles Sprosty, 81, of Soldiers Grove, formerly of Prairie du Chien, Memphis, Tenn., and the Seneca area, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at Vernon Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1940, to Charles and Julia (Klema) Sprosty. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1958 and attended Farm Short Course at UW-Madison. In 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was trained as an aviation electrician and served aboard a number of aircraft carriers in the Pacific. Joe spent 30 years in Memphis, with his wife Marie, and moved to Praire du Chien after her passing.
He is survived by brothers, John (Marlene) of Fountain Valley, Calif., Martin of La Crosse, and William of Eastman; his sisters, Phyllis Olson of Seneca and Mary Sue (Larry) Booher of Alton, Ill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills on Friday, Aug. 20, from 1 to 3 pm. Military rites will be held at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Dickson Ridge Cemetery near Lynxville. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation of your choice.
