Roger A. Wankerl of Marquette passed in peace on Aug. 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Roger was born in Baraboo, Wis., on July 8, 1944. When he was a toddler, the family relocated to Prairie du Chien, Wis., and then settled in Marquette. He went on to graduate from MarMac High School. Roger served in the Navy and earned his bachelor’s degree from UW-LaCrosse.

 

When not spending time with his family, telling dad jokes, Roger loved working on various projects and tinkering in the garage. 

 

Roger was a dedicated son who thoughtfully and devotedly cared for his mother.

 

Roger is survived by his two  daughters, Barbie Norris and Lisa White, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Stade, and his father, Almore Stade.

 

The family wishes to thank Crossing Rivers in Prairie du Chien, Gundersen in La Crosse, Meadowbrook Bloomer and St. Croix Hospice for their tender care during this difficult time. A private service will be held for the family.
