The Prairie du Chien Oktoberfest Committee has announced 2021 Oktoberfest will be back bigger and better with many new and exciting activities and events planned for Oct. 15 and 16.

One of those new events includes a Tapping of the Keg Party on Friday at the Backwater Bar, where live music, Hammershlagen and of course tapping of the Potosi Oktoberfest keg will happen. Also at that venue, the fest royalty ceremony will kick off the 11th Oktoberfest season.

Two new bands will perform at Oktoberfest this fall. One addition is a group from Green Bay called Live Wire, who will be playing Friday night at the Backwater Bar and Saturday at the fest grounds on St. Feriole Island. Live Wire plays rock and roll and country polka music. At the fest grounds on Saturday, event-goers will also be treated to a group called the Zweifel Brothers Band, from Janesville, performing Slovenian polka music, yodeling, and serving up lots of fun.

Also new this year will be a men’s and women’s keg toss. Many of the great traditional family events continue as organizers look to expand the parade and car/tractor display as well as offer the beer stein holding contest, kids activities, disc golf and euchre tournaments, bingo, German food and much more.

Prairie du Chien Okoberfest is now a non-profit association that has over 20 active members who volunteer to provide the event for the community and tourists.

If you would like to volunteer, be a sponsor, or get more information, contact Mike Ulrich at 326-7207 or mulrich@prairieduchien-wi.gov.
