Garden produce is being stolen from Monona yards. City administrator Barb Collins, at the city’s Aug. 16 council meeting, reported at least three homes have reported thefts.

Police chief Jo Amsden noted tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers have been the most popular items.

If any other residents have had the same issue, or have information, please contact the Monona Police Department at (563) 539-4400.

Other topics discussed at the meeting included:

•After approving the second reading and waiving the third, the council unanimously adopted an ordinance amending provisions pertaining to animal protection and control. The ordinance better details the handling of animal incidents in the community.

•Due to Labor Day being the first Monday of the Month, the first September council meeting will be moved to the following day, Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. The second regular meeting of the month will be held as usual on Monday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m.
