MFL MarMac runners continue strong performances

The MFL MarMac girls and boys cross country teams continued a string of solid performances last week, in a Sept. 21 meet at Waukon.
The night included another top-20 performance for sophomore Clare Grau, whose 22:53.87 time put her 17th. Abby Schellhorn ran her way to 30th place with a 23:21.68 effort, while Evelyn Ruff finished 36th at 24:36.30. Kaylee Walch ran the course in 25:40.25, which was good for 46th, and Ruby Koeller and Kaylee Nuehring were 50th and 51st, respectively, with times of 28:25.16 and 28:25.27.
The Bulldogs totaled 155 points, placing them seventh as a team. Crestwood’s 36 gave them the top spot.
On the boys side, Caleb Nordheim had MFL MarMac’s best finish, coming in 35th at 19:49.21. Not far behind were Tucker Ruff and Will Koether, who placed 40th and 42nd, respectively, at 20:11.91 and 20:12.22. Bobby Kober’s time of 21:08.71 put him 50th, and Hunter Kugel, Reilly Franzen and Dusty Berns took spots 55 through 57.
The Bulldogs turned in the eighth best team score, at 214. Decorah was first with 36 points.
MFL MarMac’s schedule this week includes just one meet: at the Jesup Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
