Prairie girls beat River Valley for first time in 21 years

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks Volleyball team took a conference win in 4 sets Tuesday night at River Valley. 

Prairie had a good start for the first set. With 3 aces made throughout this set made by Lily Krahn(2) and Makenna Forde(1), and strong blocking this set by Jillian Kruempel and Avery Thompson the PdC Hawks were prepared to take this set. However, this set was lost 20-25. 

The girls were determined to take the second set, starting off with a 5-0 lead with 3 kills by Lily Krahn, a kill by Jillian Kruempel, and an ace by Makenna Forde. Shortly following this were kills by Lily Krahn, Katelyne Lutz, and Ashlyn Knapp. This set would be finished with a kill by Lily Krahn to win the set 27-25. 

The Prairie Hawks would get a 7-2 lead with help from strong serves by Clare Fritsche and an ace by Makenna Forde in the third set, before barely falling behind River Valley mid-set.  Prairie was determined to fight back with kills by Lily Krahn, Jillian Kruempel, and the final kill by Ashlyn Knapp to bring the score to 25-23. 

The fourth and final set began with a kill by Jillian Kruempel. Knowing this set would get them the win Prairie fought with kills by Lily Krahn, Makenna Forde, Jillian Kruempel, and Katelyne Lutz. The final point for tonight was a kill made by Lily Krahn bringing the score 25-23, giving Prairie du Chien their first win over River Valley volleyball in 21 years! 

Leading with aces for the night were Lily Krahn with 7, Makenna Forde with 4, and Katelyne Lutz with 1. Ashlyn Knapp lead the night with 27 assists. Dig leaders were Lily Krahn with 20, Katelyne Lutz with 18, and Makenna Forde with 15.  Lily Krahn and Jillian Kruempel lead with kills: Krahn with 26 and Kruempel with 6. Jillian Kruempel also lead with 3 blocks. 

The JV team lost their match: 15-25, 26-24, and 9-25. 

The JV2 team lost their match: 21-25, 12-25, and 21-25.
