Sharon A. Halverson, 79, of Elkader, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at Garden View Place in Monona. Sharon Ann was born May 23, 1942, in Rossville, at the family farm, to Lowell and Violet (Henderson) Walters. Sharon graduated from Waukon High School in 1960.

She was united in marriage to Robert Halverson on June 24, 1961, at the Presbyterian Church in Rossville. The couple was blessed with four wonderful children.

In her early years, she worked on the family farm and worked at the Soda Grill in Waukon waiting tables. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids where Sharon worked at Rockwell-Collins for a short time. In 1963, the couple moved to Elkader where they made their family home.

Bob and Sharon worked together at Halverson Implement until the mid-80s, when they bought into Theis Clothing and Sharon was the bookkeeper until the store closed.

Sharon was active in her church, Peace United Church of Christ, where she served as a Stephen Minister, and served many years on the Fall Festival Committee.

Bob and Sharon loved traveling and they visited Sweden, Russia, Italy, Hawaii and Florida to name a few. Her favorite place of all, though, was Branson, Mo. She loved the music at all the shows.

When Sharon wasn’t at a Hawkeye game with Bob, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She took great pride in all six of her grandchildren and attended their numerous extra-curricular activities.

Survivors include her son Kyle and his children Lynsey and Shane, her son Kevin and his daughter Graysen, her daughter Melissa Bonnette and her husband Zach and their son Trey, daughter-in-law Angie Halverson and her daughters Madysen and Mackenzie; two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Ann) Halverson and Vern (Cindy) Halverson, three sisters-in-law, Jan Brandsmeier, Mary (Leon) Nelson and Sandy Halverson; and several nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by Robert in 2017, their son Eric in 2019, her parents as well as her in-laws Dorf and Viette Halverson, sister and brother-in-law Elva Lea and Leland Meyer, brother Eldo Walters and two brothers-in-law, Ron Halverson and Curt Brandsmeier.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Peace United Church of Christ with Rev. Jon Haack officiating.

Interment will be at the East Side Cemetery, Elkader.
