Annette H. Matt, 89, of Garnavillo, formerly of Midlothian, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Friday, Nov 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. 

Inurnment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo.

Annette was born on Aug. 30, 1932, in Garnavillo, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Fisher) Matt Jr. 

Annette received her education through 10th grade at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Garnavillo; then attended Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque and graduated in 1950. She joined the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque in 1952 where she taught music; received her habit as Sister Alice Ann, and a bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff University. Annette expressed her love of music with a long career as a music teacher, during which she earned a master’s degree in music education from DePaul University.

A love of travel took Annette on numerous trips around the world with family and friends. She will be remembered for her caring nature and contagious, happy spirit that always brought a smile to those she was around.

Annette is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many friends.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, James, David, Francis and Louis Matt III; twin brothers, John and Joseph Matt in infancy; sisters, Alice Matt, Vivian Hebb and Edith Matt.
