Delbert A. Flitsch, 82, of Gays Mills, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021. 

Delbert was born on Oct. 22, 1939, to Maynard and Irene (Hochhausen) Flitsch in Cassville. After graduating from high school, Delbert enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country. Delbert met the love of his life, Julia Oppriecht, in 1962. They shared a full life and were planning on celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary on Nov 10. 

Together they were blessed with two daughters, Karla Krajewski and her husband, Ted, whom Delbert considered a son; and Angie Meyer; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

He is further survived by a sister, Linda (Greg) Dunn; and a brother, Ken (Beth) Flitsch. 

After moving to Gays Mills in 1969, Delbert joined his father-in law and brother-in-law in creating the family business of Oppriecht & Flitsch and became a master plumber. After 17 years they moved to Sun Prairie, where he continued plumbing and joined Plumbers Union Local 75. In 1999, Delbert and Julia returned home to Gays Mills to enjoy their retirement. They spent their time fishing, traveling, camping and spending time with their grandchildren. Delbert was a member of American Legion Post 308, Richland County 40 et 8 and VFW Post 9362. He was past Commander of American Legion Post 333 Sun Prairie. He served in the Gays Mills Fire Department for 17 years, was past president of the Gays Mills Lions Club and served on the Gays Mills Village Board. His family will always cherish the memories of sharing Delbert’s love for the outdoors. 

A gathering for friends and family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Military Honors will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Delbert’s Life will be held at Halver’s Town Tap in Gays Mills from 5 to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
