The Prairie du Chien Historical Society’s 15th Annual Cookie and Candy Sale is Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Fort Crawford Museum, from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale is first come, first serve.

Guests who stop by to purchase a plated assortment of holiday cookies and candy will be asked to pay a flat fee per dozen.  In-person pick-up is available, though masks must be worn to enter the museum building. Drive-up service is also available by calling the Fort Crawford Museum on Saturday at 326-6960. 

Guests may wish to fill their Christmas gift giving list with a purchase of a book or gift showcasing the history of the 1800s and early 1900s in Prairie du Chien and the surrounding areas. The museum store, located at 717 South Beaumont Rd. is open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11. In addition, consider browsing at The Knowlton House Shoppes located at 109 West Blackhawk Ave., open weekly, Wednesdays through Saturdays.

The Christmas trees on the porch of the Fort Crawford Museum will be lit for the first time that night. They are sponsored by individuals, families and businesses in the community.

The year 2022’s events will kick-off Jan. 2, with Bonne Annee, the Celebration of the Canadian New Year at the St. Germain dit Gauthier-Coorouogh House on St. Feriole Island. Watch for more details.
