Michael J. Donahue
Michael John Donahue, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Cuba City, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at the age of 92. Doc died peacefully with his beloved wife, Alberta Mae, at his side, supported by their children and grandchildren.
Doc was born to parents, Norman and Cecelia, May 30, 1929. He graduated from Cuba City High School and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Marquette University. He married Alberta Mae “Bert,” the love of his life, in Hollister, Calif., in 1953. They were stationed with the Air Force in Rantoul, Ill., during the Korean War from 1954-1956. Doc then joined his father’s dental practice in Cuba City, where he and Bert raised their three children.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Cecelia; his son, Timothy; and his sister, Diane.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Mae; three children, Kevin (Noreen), Patti (Bryce), and Kellie. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Cristin Joy, Charles, Stephanie, Cristin Emily, Sean, Meghan, Katie, John, Caleb, Erin, Shane, Sarah, and his 18 great-grandchildren.
Doc was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Marquette Warriors, Chicago White Sox, and Milwaukee Brewers. He was also partial now and then to a classic root beer float.
He and Bert retired to their second home in Port Charlotte, Fla., where they spent their winters with good friends and sun-filled family visits. They happily shared every summer with family at their beloved cottage, located within the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, in Prairie du Chien.
Michael’s life was a tapestry of love and laughter, struggle and success. He was one of a kind and larger than life. He will be missed.
Services will be held at a later, warmer date in Cuba City. Casey-McNett Funeral Home and Cremation Services, of Cuba City, is assisting the family.
