There has been activity recently at the site of the new Eagles Club building in Prairie du Chien. Crew members have been conducting electrical rough-in and plumbing rough-in. A floor will also be constructed. The days are too short for concrete work.

A pile of 60-foot-long trusses has been delivered to the site, along with several smaller trusses in various sizes.

Eagles Club Building Committee member Mark Mara said it is expected that a shell structure with windows will be constructed soon.

“We will then get back at it in the spring,” said Mara.

The foundation was constructed in June at the Eagles Club site, which is located between S. First Street and the Highway 18 Bypass. The new Eagles Club will be a 7,200-square-foot, one story building.

Mara said the building committee is the general contractor for now, but a different general contractor will be named later. Delta 3 Engineering of Platteville is the engineering firm.

The new Eagles Club will feature a main bar, a full kitchen and a banquet room. There will also be a lot more parking space than at the current Eagles Club Aerie 1502 at 200 S. Beaumont Road.

The initial cost for the new Eagles Club was estimated at $750,000, but the price of materials will increase the cost.

“We want to see progress,” said Mara who noted that fundraising for the project will continue. He said if anyone wishes to donate to the project they can contact the Eagles Club in Prairie du Chien.

The current Eagles Club and grounds (200 S. Beaumont Road) will eventually be sold.

The new Eagles Club will be the culmination of a project that has been in the discussion and planning stages for about 10 years.
