James Michael Govier, 44, of Lake Mary, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021.

He was born June 12, 1977, in Rockford, IL, the son of Keith and Georgia (McFadden) Govier. Jim is a member of the last graduating class of West Grant High School. He received a degree in Journalism with honors from UW La Crosse and a degree in HVAC from UW Stout. Jim worked several years in the Menomonie, and St. Paul, MN areas as a building maintenance technician and supervisor, then returned home to Prairie du Chien and finally moved to Lake Mary, FL to be with his parents.  He also performed repair, remodeling and painting jobs for friends and neighbors for many years. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his annual fishing trip to the Upper Peninsula with his father and friends. Jim had many stories to share around the nightly campfire that was entertaining for all. He was especially close to his mother. The two enjoyed many adventures and travels together. He was a loving father to his son Jaxon and enjoyed playing video games with him whether they were in the same room or 1,000 miles apart.  Jim took time away from his other endeavors in 2017 to be with his son to recuperate from a traumatic school bus accident.  

He is survived by his son Jaxon, St. Paul, MN; parents Keith and Georgia (McFadden) Govier, Lake Mary, FL, Grandfather, Thomas Gallagher, Oveido, FL, brothers; Bradley Govier (Sarah) Cobb, and Shawn Christoph (Carrie) of Belleville, Sisters Amanda Christoph, Middleton, WI and Danielle Waterman (Will) of Muscoda.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Emma, who was like a sister to him.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday Dec. 22nd at  St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bloomington.  Visitation will be at noon, the funeral at 1:00 p.m. with burial at Mt. Zion church cemetery, North Lancaster Township.
