The Central boys basketball team suffered two more losses last week, falling to 1-6 this season.

The first loss came against Turkey Valley, where the Warriors fell behind early. After trailing 35-18 at halftime, they couldn’t recover, losing 65-44.

While the Warriors shot well, making 44.2 percent of their shots, including 40 percent from three-point range, they were ultimately undone by 41 turnovers and 12 fouls, which led to a free throw disparity favoring the Trojans.

Dan McGreal was the leading scorer for the Warriors, making 50 percent of his shots for 17 points. Seth Bena scored 12 points, while Tate Berns added six and Caden Erickson scored four.

Elliot Kelly led the team with four assists, while three players, Corey Weber, Bena and Berns, each had two.

The defense finished with one block from Berns and eight total steals, but for comparison, the Trojans finished with 30 steals and four blocks.

Central’s second loss of the week was to South Winneshiek, 64-33. The Warriors fell behind early again, trailing 27-18 at halftime, and were unable to close the gap.

There were no other stats available for this game at press time.

The Warriors look to return to the win column with one game before the holiday break. They’ll host MFL MarMac on Dec. 21.
