Janice Irene Rohner, 86, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, with family by her side.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries. Visitation was before services at the church.

Interment was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Janice was born on Jan. 7, 1936, in Dubuque, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Matt) Berns.

Janice attended the St. Joseph Catholic School in Garnavillo and later graduated from the Garnavillo High School with the class of 1955. On Feb. 23, 1957, Janice was united in marriage with Donald Francis Rohner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo.

Janice was a member of the Catholic Daughters, St. Anne’s Society, Hospital Auxiliary and Guttenberg Care Center Advisory Board. She volunteered at the Guttenberg Care Center, Lockmasters House Heritage Museum and the hospital gift shop. Janice loved to play pinochle with her girlfriends and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Janice will be forever loved and cherished by her four children, Cindy Troester, Jeff (Julie) Rohner, Karla (Bob Myers) Vogel and Sandy (Fred) Witte; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two siblings, Hank (Sandy) Berns, Marge Bowerman and many other relatives and friends. 

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis Rohner; daughter, Karen Wachendorf and grandson, Travis Rohner.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials to go to St. Croix Hospice, 101 Elkader St., Strawberry Point, IA 52076.
