Frances Pritchard, 82, of Garber, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 27, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 28, at Elkport Garber Community Center.

Interment was at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin.

Frances was born on Nov. 5, 1939, the only daughter of Melvin and Carrie (Barr) Stray. She attended grade school in Elgin. For the first few years Frances worked at the local canning factory in Elgin and then at Iowa Turkey Products in Postville until uniting in marriage with Richard Pritchard on May 29, 1964, in Decorah. To this union they were blessed with five children. Together they farmed over the years in the Strawberry Point, Littleport, and Garber area.

Frances will be remembered as someone who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, canning, keeping her lawn just so, and all the animals on the farm of course. Frances always had freshly baked goods and a cup of coffee ready when company arrived and a plate to pass if they arrived at mealtime. She could cook, bake and can like no other and neighbors around would tell you the same. Frances also cherished all the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They held a special place in her heart, near and dear.

Left to cherish her memory are her dear pet, Kasey and children, Kevin (Lori) Pritchard of Dundee; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Pritchard, Craig (Tammy) Pritchard of Garber, and Lynette (Jason) Pritchard of Guttenberg; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, John Green of Maynard.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Duane and Larry Pritchard; two grandsons, Logan Pritchard and Anthony Hutchinson; one brother, Karl Green Jr. and two sisters- in-law, Joyce Green and Ester Green.
