Ronnie L. “Ron” Pitzer, 72, of Eastman, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. 

He was born Jan. 17, 1950, the son of Jay and Mary (Livens) Pitzer and grew up in the rural Wauzeka-Steuben area. He worked at Boscobel Silo Company before meeting the love of his life Diane Jelinek. They were married Sept. 9, 1972, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Together, they lived in Prairie du Chien before moving to Eastman, where they raised their family. Ron worked several other jobs over the years, including at the Marina in Prairie du Chien, Bituma in Marquette, Iowa, construction, and farm work. In his words, he was a “jack of all trades, master of none.” He eventually retired from DH Satellite in Prairie du Chien as a welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to auctions to bring things home to tinker with in his shop. 

Ron is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane; their children, Ron Jr. (Andrea), Craig (Kari), Christa (Robert Mara) Pitzer, and Cody Pitzer; his brother, Arthur (Marilyn), and sister Burnita Johnson-Gokey; grandchildren, Dillon, Tryston, Chaise, Ethan, Gatlynn, Noah, Charlotte, Catherine, Addison, Taylor, Joselynn, and Cashton; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Jeremy; his brothers, Bob, Wesley, Eddie, Jimmy, and Phillip Pitzer and Gene, Chuck, and Clarence “Buzz” Stagman. 

A visitation was held Feb. 3, at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, with inurnment at a later date. To leave condolences for the family, visit garrity funeralhome.com.
