Big first half propels Hornets past Royals

The Hornets’ Ethan Klema (0) and Seth Bunders (30) play tough defense against the Royals’ Kadin Wallin.
Wauzeka-Steuben built a big lead in the first half and increased it by 2 points in the second half to defeat visiting Seneca in a boys basketball showdown in the Ridge and Valley Conference Friday night.
The Hornets started off hot and led the Royals 34-19 after hitting a first-half buzzer beater. The Hornets then took the second half 24-22 to earn the victory.
Wauzeka-Steuben remained undefeated at 22-0 on the season and 13-0 in the Ridge and Valley. Seneca went to 17-3 overall and 11-2 in conference action.
Ashton Swanson scored 16 points and pulled down 5 rebounds for the Royals. Kadin Wallin added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
