On Feb. 12, the Prairie du Chien/Fennimore gymnastics team traveled to Platteville for a 13-team varsity invitational.

There was a lot of great competition taking place. The PDC/Fenn team finished in 10th place with a score of 124.55. Mount Horeb came in first with a score of 142.825, Dodge/Point was second at 132.8, Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster was third with 130.575.

Several girls took the chance on new skills, causing lower scores than some meets. Avery Thompson flipped a Tsuke on the vault for the first time in competition.Taia Dressler connected two new skills on the uneven bars, Alex Crary properly completed her dismount on bars.

The team still struggles to stay on the balance beam and make connections on the uneven bars. If the girls can get their nerves under control and stay on the beam, their scores will increase tremendously.

With the invitational having so many teams, the top 12 out of 64 placed in each event. On vault, Madilyn Fisher placed seventh with a score of 8.7 with a fall on the landing. On the uneven bars, Madilyn Fisher placed 10th with a score of 8.25. On the balance beam, Alyssa Schoepp placed 18th with a score of 8.2. On the floor exercise, Madilyn Fisher Placed 10th with a score of 8.9 and Alyssa Schoepp placed 18th with a score of 8.55. In the all around, Madilyn Fisher placed ninth with a score of 33.6.
