The MFL MarMac boys golf team is off to a 2-0 start, after winning last week’s season opener against Central and placing first in a triangular at Waukon.
The Bulldogs shot a combined 176 in the April 11 meet in Elkader, but with just one golfer, the opposing Warriors couldn’t field a team score.
Joe Grau and Gabe McGeough were co-medalists after shooting 43s, and Nick Krambeer’s 44 cemented him as runner up.
Other top scorers included Quinn McGeough at 46, Ben Krambeer and Bryce Radloff at 51, Sawyer Keehner at 52 and Jaxton Schroeder at 53. Nolan Lerch and Jaron Wille each finished with 54s, followed by Austin Schlee at 60, Will Koether at 61, Kyle Tilson at 65 and Elias Hatt at 67.
MFL MarMac turned in 179 the following night, ahead of host Waukon’s 208. Postville had no team score.
Grau was the medalist for the second night in a row, thanks to a score of 40. Waukon’s Dylan Hogan shot a 44 to become the runner up.
In addition to Grau, four other Bulldogs also shot under 50 at the meet, including Nick Krambeer at 45, Ben Krambeer at 46, Quinn McGeough at 48 and Cullen McShane at 49. Gabe McGeough finished at 51 and Keehner at 52.
Rounding out the team scores were Radloff at 55, Lerch at 56, Schroeder at 57, Wille at 59 and Schlee at 63.
MFL MarMac planned to go for its third straight win April 14, in a home meet against West Central, but inclement weather postponed the match-up to April 19. The team will then play at Clayton Ridge on April 21.
