Clayton Ridge School board hires new principal
At the regular monthly meeting on April 13, the Clayton Ridge School board hired Terri Thompson as the principal for grades 6-12. The action came after a special meeting on April 6 to conduct interviews with five candidates for the position.
The position was open due to changes that the district is making with administration positions. Shane Wahls currently serves as superintendent and elementary principal. For the 2022-2023 year, Wahls will be the full-time superintendent, and Laura Bilden has been transferred to the elementary principal position. Terri Thompson, who currently works at Keystone AEA, will replace Bilden as the middle school/high school principal. For the 2023-2024 school year, Wahls will be going to half-time as superintendent.
In other business at the monthly meeting, the board approved the 2022-23 budget and school calendar, as well as master contracts with the Clayton Ridge Education Association and individual contracts with certified, support and extra-curricular staff
The board accepted the resignations of Bob Sweers as junior high boys and girls basketball coach, and of teacher associates Nicole Tayek and Cindie Kuehl. Avonique Tipsword and Jason Tipsword were hired to share the position of high school play director.
